Overall Purpose of the Position

The Enterprise Risk Officer role is to support the articulation and championing of the Bank’s enterprise risk management framework. The Enterprise Risk Officer supports the team in implementing the Risk Appetite Statement and maintaining a comprehensive enterprise-wide view of the risks facing the Bank.

 

Operational Responsibilities

  • Assists in the implementation of the Bank’s enterprise risk management framework and ensures adherence to the Risk Appetite Statement approved by the Board of Directors.
  • Works with business functions and risk stakeholders to ensure that the Bank operates within the approved policies and limits of the Bank and that these are reviewed periodically in line with changes in the Bank’s risk appetite, strategic/business objectives, macro environment and regulatory expectations.
  • Supports the Manager/Senior Officer in maintaining a risk intelligent culture throughout the Bank which is embedded in the way the Bank operates and covers all functions and activities. This involves ensuring that the employees’ understanding and attitudes toward risk lead them to consistently make appropriate risk-based decisions in line with the risk policies approved by the Board of Directors. This is supported by the Risk Register of the Bank.
  • Develops methods for monitoring and reporting of risks in line with regulatory requirements and expectations set by the relevant stakeholders.
  • Compiles the required risk analysis and reports (both internal and external risk reports and disclosures) and ensures alignment with the Bank’s policies and escalation procedures. 
  • Actively participates in the Internal Capital and Liquidity Adequacy Assessment Processes, Recovery and Resolution Planning Processes, and Stress Testing.
  • Assists the Manager/Senior Officer in providing the Authorities with the information requested as part of the Supervisory Review and Evaluation Process and ensures that the information provided is complete and timely.
  • Supports the Manager/Senior Officer when engaging with third parties and liaising with regulatory bodies and industry leaders, to ensure that the Bank fulfils upcoming regulatory and supervisory obligations and maintains best practice in the management of risk.

 

 General Responsibilities

  • Participates in meetings and Bank-wide projects as may be directed by the Manager/Senior Officer. 
  • Keep abreast with developments and best practice in risk management through continuing professional development.
  • Ensure compliance with the Bank’s policies, guidelines and underlying procedures at all times.
  • Perform high quality work in a timely manner and in line with the Department’s procedures and handbooks.

Qualification

  • Possess a first degree in Risk Management, Accountancy, Banking, Finance, Mathematics/Statistics or Economics.

  • Experience in risk management within a financial institution.

Qualification

  • A qualification specific to the financial services industry would be considered an asset
