Overall Purpose of the Position

To assist the Senior Manager Commercial or Corporate Banking Manager or Commercial Relationship Manager in the management of a portfolio of credit facilities to groups of companies, corporate and commercial customers. The job holder will also assist in the organisation, coordination and controlling of activities relating to credit facilities and contribute towards the achievement of the objectives of the Commercial Banking Unit.

 

Operational Responsibilities

 

  • To participate in meetings with customers and evaluate financing proposals submitted by existing and prospective borrowers in particular commercial customers and, submit recommendations to the Manager in accordance with the Bank’s lending guidelines, procedures and regulations;
  • To support the Manager in the management, monitoring, controlling, reviewing and servicing of the portfolio of Corporate/ Commercial customers;
  • Negotiating with customers the best terms and conditions possible for the Bank;
  • To review the daily excess report and ensure that exposures are approved by the appropriate level of authority, including the timely submission of AD15s (Excess Reports) when necessary;
  • To contribute towards the achievement of the Annual Operating Plan;
  • To identify and contact potential customers with the aim of winning new business and to meet annual targets set in terms of growth in the lending portfolio and generation of ancillary income;
  • To prepare credit applications for the review of facilities whilst also ensure the timely provision of security required and contribute towards the perfection of the security held by the Bank including the registration in the LPS and liaising with the Credit Services Unit;
  • To ensure the protection of the Bank's interests through adequate documentation and adherence to the various laws and regulations.

  • Preferably having a minimum of 3-year experience in commercial banking.

  • Possess or is in the process of obtaining a professional qualification in a relevant area such as banking, finance, accounting, risk, compliance or related field.
