Overall Purpose of the Position
-
The Culture & Communications Specialist drives engaging communication that strengthens APS Bank’s reputation and culture. The role ensures clear, consistent and authentic messaging across all internal and external communication channels, enhancing employer branding, media presence, and public trust. By creating impactful content, managing PR opportunities, coordinating events, and amplifying employee voice, the Specialist fosters connection, transparency and visibility. Through effective measurement and reporting, the role demonstrates impact, builds accountability, and contributes to positioning the Bank as an employer of choice and trusted institution aligned with its strategic vision.
Operational Responsibilities

· Drive strategic communication – Deliver impactful internal and external communications that deliver the Bank’s Communication Strategy, ensuring all messaging is consistent with brand guidelines, reflect our culture, and resonate with target audiences, working in close partnership with the Brand & Marketing Manager/team to maximise reach and impact.
· Enhance storytelling & visibility – Proactively source and craft authentic stories, press releases, and digital content to strengthen the Bank’s reputation, highlight culture and values, and showcase leadership in the market.
· Ensure clear & consistent messaging – Manage the Bank’s internal communications calendar, ensuring timely, coordinated, and consistent delivery of key messages across internal platforms (SharePoint, Teams, and other channels).
· Maintain strong media presence – Proactively manage the PR pipeline and media relations to enhance the Bank’s profile and visibility, proactively seeking opportunities for positive coverage and reputation building, working closely with the Brand & Marketing Manager/team to ensure alignment and impact.
· Support delivery of engaging events – Support the Corporate Culture Manager to plan and execute impactful internal events (such as Breakfasts, Townhalls, Culture Activators, #APSlife Workshops, awards, workshops, branch and offsite visits) to activate and communicate the Bank’s culture, ensuring seamless logistics and memorable experiences.
· Elevate employee voice – Support the Corporate Culture Manager to capture, analyse, and report feedback from events and employee listening channels, using insights to recommend and implement continuous improvements in communication and activation.
· Showcase culture and people – Curate compelling content for external platforms including the LinkedIn Life Page and media features, to highlight the Bank’s values, people and workplace culture.

Demonstrate impact & accountability – Develop and apply measurement tools to track communication and activation initiatives, ensuring transparent reporting on progress, completed actions, and outstanding commitments.
General Responsibilities
· Act as a Brand Ambassador – Represent and actively promote APS Bank’s brand, culture and values in all interactions, internally and externally.
· Deliver assigned projects and reporting – Manage projects, activities and reporting requirements as assigned, ensuring timely, accurate, and high-quality outcomes.
· Provide support to Head of Culture and Corporate Culture Change Manager in the coordination and execution of ad hoc projects and tasks that drive cultural change.

Qualifications, Skills & Competencies
Mandatory
Skill
· Proficiency in MS365 tools and confidence in using digital tools and leveraging AI as an enabler to support reporting, analysis, and content creation (while maintaining a human touch).
· Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
· Excellent communication and writing skills, with the ability to adapt for different audiences, formats and contexts.
· Event planning and coordination experience, including managing logistics and stakeholders.
· Strong interpersonal skills: able to build trust and collaborate across teams and engage with senior stakeholders.
· Analytical mindset with the ability to measure, track, and report progress on culture and communications.
· Fluency in English and Maltese (written and spoken)

Experience
· 2-5 years' relevant experience in corporate communications, public relations or similar.
· Proven experience in content creation and PR across multiple channels (digital, print, events).
· Strong track record of managing communication calendars and corporate events.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree / MQF level 6 certification in communications, digital marketing, public relations, digital media, or related subjects
Desirable
Skill
- Experience in internal / employee engagement / employee branding / corporate communications / PR.
- Basic knowledge of design tools (such as Canva, PowerPoint, Adobe Creative) for content creation.
- Proficient in SharePoint and MS Teams content management (or similar).
- Strong skills in data organisation, measurement frameworks, and translating insights into reports and actions.
- Awareness and keen to embrace emerging tools and technologies, including AI applications that enhance communication, data analysis, and employee engagement workflows.
